Old Capitol - University of Iowa

The centerpiece of the University of Iowa Pentacrest, the Old Capitol Building was constructed in 1842 and served as the third territorial capitol of Iowa. The Iowa Constitution was developed in the building and the first 6 general assemblies were held there, When Des Moines became the capital of Iowa in 1857, Old Capitol became the first building owned by what is now known as the University of Iowa
