LaSalle Street in Chicago looking south to the Chicago Board of Trade. Built in 1930, the building was the tallest in Chicago until the Richard J Daley building was erected in 1965. It is a National Historic Landmark. The commodity exchange it houses was originally established in 1848 to trade in agricultural commodities. If you look closely, you will see a figure at the top of the building. It is Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture sculpted by John H. Storrs.
LaSalle Street is the heart of the financial district in Chicago. It gets a canyon look due to the tall steep buildings (many designed to look like Greek temples) that line the street from Madison to Jackson. #Chicago #LaSalleStreetCanyon #Ceres #ChicagoBoardofTrade

This picture from 2011 illustrates one reason why we no longer live in Chicago. Wrigley misses the snow, we don't miss the snow or the bitter cold. #ChicagoWinter #Labrador #Snow #BitterCold
