From July 2008 - Picture from Schnebly Hill Road Trail Head looking east. Named after Carl Schnebly who built a home and general store near Oak Creek in 1900. We was the areas fiorst postmaster and name the postal station Sedona after his wife. The road traverses some very rough terrain from the roundabout at 179 all the way up east to Interstate 17. High clearance vehicles are required, but the ride provides some scenic views. #Rainbow #Sedona #SchenblyHillRoad #FourthtPhotogaraphy #Picturesforsale #Arizona #Fox10Phoenix #WeatherPhotos #AZFamily

Granite Mountain covers 12 square miles and tops out at 7,628 feet, It was once named Gurley Mountain for the first governor of the Arizona Territory. The sheer granite cliff is one the best locations for rock climbing in Arizona. Portions of it are closed from February through July to protect the nesting of Peregrine Falcons.
