This includes not only the United State National Park, but the areas within the Hualapai and Havasupai Indian Reservations, the Navajo Nation, the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument and the Kaibab National Forest. The Grand Canyon was designated a National Monument by Theodore Roosevelt in 1908. Mission San Juan Capistrano was founded November 1, 1776 by Junipero Serra as the 7th of 21 missions in California. The mission buildings were constructed starting in 1778. They are the oldest known unreinforced structures still standing in California.
The Mission is most famous for the Return of the Swallows each year on St. Joseph's Day - March 16/.
