Carved by the Colorado River, the Grand Canyon reaches a depth of 6,093 feet and is 277 miles long and up to 18 miles wide. This includes not only the United State National Park, but the areas within the Hualapai and Havasupai Indian Reservations, the Navajo Nation, the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument and the Kaibab National Forest.

The Grand Canyon was designated a National Monument by Theodore Roosevelt in 1908. Woodrow Wilson established it as the 17th National Park  on February 26, 1919.

Mission San Juan Capistrano was founded November 1, 1776  by Junipero Serra as the 7th of 21 missions in California. The mission buildings were constructed starting in 1778. They are the oldest known unreinforced structures still standing in California.

The Mission is most famous for the Return of the Swallows each year on St. Joseph's Day - March 16/. The Swallows migrate 6,000 miles from Goya Argentina.
