Sycamore Canyon is one of the oldest designated Wilderness Areas in Arizona. It was a "Primitive Area" as designated by the Forest Service before the Wilderness Act of 1964. There are no roads in the canyon, therefore the only access is via hiking and horseback trails. Sycamore Canyon is 21 miles long with a maximum width of 7 miles. The Wilderness Area encompasses 56,000 acres. It is home to black bear, deer, mountain lions as well as other wildlife. Sycamore Creek, a tributary of the Verde River runs through the canyon. #SycamoreCanyon #SycamoreCreek #SycamoreCanyonWilderness #Arizona #Hiking #CoconinoNationalForest #KaibabNationalForest #PrescottNationalForest from June 25, 2015 - Sunrise on Dragonfly Cove on Watson Lake off the Peavine Trail in Prescott Arizona.
