Mission San Juan Capistrano was founded November 1, 1776 by Junipero Serra as the 7th of 21 missions in California. The mission buildings were constructed starting in 1778. They are the oldest known unreinforced structures still standing in California.
The Mission is most famous for the Return of the Swallows each year on St. Joseph's Day - March 16/. The Swallows migrate 6,000 miles from Goya Argentina. #MissionSanJuanCapistrano #Swallows #StJosephsDay #MArch19 #JuniperSerra #California
