Bear Lake sits in front of Hallett Peak in the Rocky Mountain National Park.
Located on the Continental Divide within the Rocky Mountain National Park, Hallett Peak is a 12,720 foot peak named for William Hallett  (1856-1947) a mountain climber and one of the founders of the Rocky Mountain Club.
 
Formed by a chuck of ice during the ice age, Bear Lake sits at an elevation of 9,450 feet.
