Grand Canyon Squirrel

January 21st was Squirrel Appreciation Day. A Rock Squirrel eats berries off a bush just off the walkway in the Grand Canyon Village at the South Rim.

I took this picture from a safe distance with a zoom lens. It is reported that more people visit the emergency room from Squirrel attacks than any other animal in the Grand Canyon. This is due to people thinking that feeding these "cute" creatures is something noble, despite signs posted to keep their distance and not feed them. So appreciate the squirrel from afar an by no means try to feed them or pet them.
