Sunrise at Excelsior Geyser Crater From its 200 x 300 foot crater, Excelsior Geyser Crater in Yellowstone National Park sends 4,000 gallons of 199 degree Fahrenheit water per minute into the Firehole River. Considered Inactive, the geyser’s last major eruption was in 1985. There have been periods of violent boiling that could be considered eruptions (between 5-10 feet) between 2004 and 2006. #YellowstoneNationalPark #ExcelsiorGeyser #FireholeRiver
