“Morning Sky – Chuckwalla Trail” We planned a trip to Utah for visits to Zion and Bryce National Park. The bonus is a visit to Red Cliffs Desert Reserve, a Utah State Park. I had been here before on a prior trip to Las Vegas. I love our national parks, but there are places beyond them that offer some amazing hiking and views that can rival the parks. The sun rises behind me this morning, casting a beautiful light on the red rocks in the Reserve. Make it a great day! I decided to do this challenge because Shelly was diagnosed with Kidney cancer in 2024. She has finished her treatment at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. We optimistically await MRIs in the next couple of months showing the cancer has been beaten. “Crystal Blue Colorado River” There are plenty of things to do in and around Las Vegas besides gambling. Yesterday’s adventure took me through Eldorado Canyon to the Colorado River. I had originally went to visit Nelson Ghost Town, but decided to drive a little further into the Lake Mead Recreation Area and came upon the Colorado River. This picture is from Blue Water Point -no difficult to see how and why it was named. Gold was discovered in the Eldorado Canyon about 1859. The three largest mines were the Techatticup, Wall Street and Savage which yielded over $5 million dollars over 40 years of operations. The mines were served by steamboats on the Colorado River.
