Today starts the American Cancer Society Picture of the Day Challenge. Originally, I thought it started October 1, but evidently it starts today. There are photo prompts that can be used to choose pictures. Today’s picture is from 2012. Most of the pictures from here on out will be taken the day of posting or the previous day.
"A Labrador’s Taste of Fall" Most labrador retrievers will fetch anything. Wrigley was 2-1/2 at the time and was pure retriever. Here he tries to retrieve the leaves that Shelly has thrown in the air. I decided to do this challenge because Shelly was diagnosed with Kidney cancer in 2024. She has finished her treatment at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. We optimistically await MRIs in the next couple of months showing the cancer has been beaten. Even though my dad had Prostate Cancer, I don't know if I knew of the American Cancer Society before I met Shelly 18 years ago. I went to my first Relay For Life which Shelly led with a group of others over the course of the remaining years we lived in Palatine. In honor of Shelly and all the others fighting cancer I am participating in the October 2025 Photo of the day challenge to raise money in the fight for cancer. The ACS provides critical services for those fighting this evil disease. I will continue to post my picture on this page and on my fundraising page which you can access by clicking the button above to donate. 10% of digital downloads will be donated to the ACS. https://www.facebook.com/donate/655013010993508/ #AmericanCancerSociety #CelebrateRememberFightBack #October2025ACSPhotoChallenge #CancerSucks #Wrigleythebestdogever #TasteofFall #LabradorRetriever #FallColor #Leaves #FourthTPhotography

Heavenly Sunrise When you are up at 10,023 feet and already enjoying a week in paradise, it is natural to think that as the sun rises above the cloud you are standing in heaven. Our first trip to Maui and a 2am wake up call to reach the summit of the Haleakala Crater for sunrise did not disappoint. Although it was cold (about 35 degrees F) it was absolutely stunning to see the sun climb above the clouds. And the land below looks like you were transported to the surface of the moon. If you go to Maui, spoil yourself with a 1 am wake up and drive to the top of Haleakala and wait for to rise above the clouds. You’ll need a reservation from the National Park Service, they only let so many cars in for the sunset viewing. The moon rises above Cathedral Rock in Sedona Arizona. One of my Happy Places that provides solitude (when there aren't crowds of people), peace and time to appreciate all I have. I didn't know we would become good friends when I took this picture, but despite the distance between us now we still consider him and Suzie great friends.
