Today starts the American Cancer Society Picture of the Day Challenge. Originally, I thought it started October 1, but evidently it starts today. There are photo prompts that can be used to choose pictures. Today’s picture is from 2012. Most of the pictures from here on out will be taken the day of posting or the previous day.
"A Labrador’s Taste of Fall"
Most labrador retrievers will fetch anything. Wrigley was 2-1/2 at the time and was pure retriever. Here he tries to retrieve the leaves that Shelly has thrown in the air.
I decided to do this challenge because Shelly was diagnosed with Kidney cancer in 2024. She has finished her treatment at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. We optimistically await MRIs in the next couple of months showing the cancer has been beaten.
Even though my dad had Prostate Cancer, I don't know if I knew of the American Cancer Society before I met Shelly 18 years ago. I went to my first Relay For Life which Shelly led with a group of others over the course of the remaining years we lived in Palatine. In honor of Shelly and all the others fighting cancer I am participating in the October 2025 Photo of the day challenge to raise money in the fight for cancer. The ACS provides critical services for those fighting this evil disease.
